Proctolizin, cream
Advantages
- has a wide spectrum of actions due to the three active ingredients, which completes ones each other activities: local anesthetic (meanwhile analgesic), anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, emollient, astringent and decongestive. Hydrocortisone and lidocaine action mainly on relieving of the symptoms but zinc and dexpanthenol (an important ingredient of cream base) favor reepithelisation and healing
- Hydrocortisone acetate-anti-inflamatory steroid (AIS) with low potency, has the advantage of a good tolerability and develops less local and systemic adverse reactions than more potent steroids
- Lidocaine base - local anesthetic better tolerated than other local anesthetics. Interfere with the vasoconstriction induced by hydrocortisone and favor hydrocortisone absorption
- Zinc oxide - is a mild astringent. Free zinc ions precipitate the skin proteins leading to the formation of a protective layer, improving reepithelisation and attenuate inflammation
- Dexpanthenol - act as an absorption enhancer for hydrocortisone and lidocaine and meanwhile help in anti-inflammatory effect and reepithelisating properties of the product

Indications
- symptomatic treatment of external hemorrhoids
- pruritus ani
- anal and perianal inflammation
- rectitis, cryptitis
- acute haemorrhoidal thrombosis
- anal and perianal fissures
Contraindications
- hypersensitivity to hydrocortisone acetate, lidocaine, zinc oxide and any other ingredient
- infections at the site of cream administration (bacterial, viral or fungal)
- children under the age of 6 years
- co-administration of class III antiarrhythmics
Dosage and administration
In the first day of treatment, the cream should be applied 3 to 4 times in a day. In the next days the frequency of administration must be reduced, considering disease stage and severity. Use the product for no more than 7 days consecutively.
