Short description

Reduces the inflammation and pruritus from different skin conditions, such as atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, non-parasitic pruritus, lichen planus, psoriasis.

Advantages

It is a highly potent corticosteroid, class III.
A specific corticosteroid anti-inflammatory action.
Betamethasone is dissolved in cream base, and that increases its bioavailability.

Composition

1 gram of cream contains betamethasone 0.5 mg as betamethasone dipropionate.
Also contains propylene glycol, Lanette Wax AO, liquid paraffin, octyldodecanol, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), purified water.

Indications

To reduce inflammation and pruritus from some dermatological disorders sensitive to corticosteroids, such as: atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, non-parasitic pruritus, lichen planus, psoriasis.

Dosage and administration

Adults and adolescents: the cream can be administered once a day (in the morning) or twice a day, by applying a thin layer dose only on the affected area, by gently rubbing. Depending on the clinical response, the duration of treatment may vary from a few days to a longer period, but this should not exceed 3 weeks without re-evaluating the patient. The maximum dose must not exceed 45 g betamethasone/ week.
Children under 12 years of age: the treatment should be limited to 5 days and minimal amounts must be administered. In children under 12 years of age, the cream is used only exceptionally under strict supervision and is contraindicated in children under 1 year of age.
