Vitamin D plays an important role in the development and maintenance of bone health. Because it helps absorb calcium, it is necessary for healthy bones and teeth.
Vitamin D is very important especially for babies, who have spectacular growth in the first two years of life, but also for children who have reached puberty, when the growth rate accelerates again.
Vitamin D deficiency is one of the most common causes of deficiency rickets. This is a metabolic disease specific to childhood and occurs due to the rapid growth during this period.
In the first year of life, vitamin D deficiency in children can lead to deficiency rickets, or bone demineralization.
Currently, the general recommendation is that all children receive vitamin D3 drops from the first days of life.
1 drop is administered daily starting from the first week of life until the age of 1 year.
In the second and third years of life, it is recommended to administer 1-2 drops per day, especially during the cold season (from September to April inclusive).
The drops are administered directly into the baby's mouth, using the dropper bottle.
To prevent loss of the administered dose through vomiting, a situation frequently encountered in babies after meals, it is recommended to administer the drops in the first part of the day, between meals.
Can be administered up to 10-12 years of age: 1 drop per day.
It is administered on the recommendation of a pediatrician or family doctor.
