More details about the ingredients
Glucosamine is a hexosamine with an important role in the structure of articular cartilage. In the case of a metabolic deficiency or the aging process, the body does not produce glucosamine in sufficient quantities, the cartilage enters a degeneration process that results in the installation of arthrosis.
Glucosamine is important in maintaining the elasticity, resistance and integrity of the cartilage as well as in maintaining the mobility of the joints. Glucosamine intervenes in the regeneration of articular cartilage, relieving pain in ligaments, tendons, and joints. In addition, it favors the production of hyaluronic acid, the molecule with anti-inflammatory action.
Chondroitin sulfate is a key component of cartilage. Like glucosamine, chondroitin has a high affinity for water and is able to attract water to the joint, thus keeping it lubricated. With the aging process, the amount of chondroitin sulfate in the articular cartilage tends to decrease, and the joints become stiff and less resistant.
Chondroitin is synthesized by the human body. If necessary, chondroitin can be supplemented by external intake (extracts from animal cartilage such as shark cartilage, shells).
Devil's claw or Harpagophytum procumbens is part of the Pedaliaceae family and is native to the desert regions of South-East Africa. The plant organ used is the secondary tuber, rich in iridoids. The major active principles are harpagosides, and the related iridoid-glycosides, harpagides and procumbins are found in smaller quantities. The plant is used in traditional medicine to relieve joint, muscle or tendinous pain, but also to stimulate the appetite and ease digestion.
Collagen represents the majority macromolecule in the structure of the dense extracellular matrix and constitutes approximately 60% of the dry weight of the cartilage. Type II collagen represents 90% to 95% of the collagen of the extracellular matrix and forms fibrils and fibers interwoven with aggregates of proteoglycans. Type I, IV, V, VI, IX, XI collagen is also present in the matrix, but only in a minor proportion. Minority collagen (type I, IV, V, VI, IX, XI) helps to form and stabilize the type II collagen network.
