Short description
Ostart®Complex Ca + Mg + Zn + Se + D3 film-coated tablets is a balanced combination of minerals, oligoelements and vitamin D3.
Their intake is essential in maintaining the general well-being of the body during children and adolescent’s growth as well as in supporting the effort capacity and restoring the body during convalescence.
The bone system needs predominantly calcium and vitamin D3, but for the use of calcium, magnesium is indispensable, because the two minerals are in a permanent balance.
The functioning of the muscular and nervous system is dependent on the balance between calcium and magnesium.
Magnesium contributes to reduce fatigue and exhaustion, normalizes energy metabolism and helps maintain electrolyte balance. Immune system function depends on optimal intake of zinc, selenium and vitamin D3.
Moreover, zinc and selenium intake improve the appearance of the skin, nails and hair and contributes to supporting fertility.

Composition
Calcium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide, zinc gluconate, polyvinylpyrrolidone vinyl acetate copolymer, crosslinked sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, bulking agent (microcrystalline cellulose), L-selenomethionine, anti-caking agent (stearic acid), cholecalciferol and coting agent [polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol, aluminum and potassium silicate, talc, dye (titanium dioxide)].

- Zinc 5 mg (50% DRI*)
- Selenium 25μg (45.45% DRI*)
- Vitamin D3 5 μg (200 IU) (100% DRI*)

Dosage and administration
Children 5 to 12 years old: 1 tablet per day
It is recommended to break the tablet on the median line so it can be swallowed more easily by children or persons experiencing swallowing difficulties.
Children over 12 years old and adults: 1 tablet twice per day

Recommendations
Calcium may reduce the absorption of some medicines such as fluoride, phosphorus, levotiroxine, bisphosphonates, antibiotics such as tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin) if the calcium is administered concomitantly with these medicines. These medicines must be administered at least four hours before or after taking calcium-containing products.
In high doses, calcium may increase the effect of digoxin and the risk of cardiac arrhythmias and may reduce the effectiveness of calcium blockers (such as verapamil); for the patients treated with these medicines, the administration of calcium requires the monitoring of serum calcium levels.
